The market rate of discount is If below the bank rate, which is now 2£ per cent.
The wheat market is flat, and prices for off coast cargoes have declined. Australian wheat is quoted at from 33s to 33s 6d. Australian flour, ex-stores, is quoted at from 24s 6d to 255. Tin is quiet at .£Bl 10s. Leather is advancing, best aides being now quoted at from lia to ll£o\
Bar silver has declined £, and is now quoted at 3s 6d.
Frozen meat is in good demand.
New Zealand five per cent, (inscribed) stock is still advancing, the present quotation being 99£.
LONDON, June 13. Arrived, in channel — Barque Waimea, from Wellington, March 6.
Sir F. J. Garrick, Agent-General of Queensland, resigns on Friday. He will be succeeded by Mr. T. Archer, who previously filled the position.
Sir G. Berry has seen Lord Knutsford with reference to certain questions submitted by the Conference. Lord Knutsford said replies woald be sent confidentially by cable.
The meat by the steamer, Tainui, is irregular in condition, and is realising 4£d.
In the Australians' innings, Ferris scored 3Q ; Byan secured five wickets. Oxford in their second innings scored 146, Phillipson, 23 ; Watson, 26. Turner bowled splendidly, securing five wickets.
At a meeting of the Eoyal Colonial Institute yesterday, Mr. Herbert de Castello, well-kuowu Victorian wine-grower, who is at present visitiDg England, read a paper on Australian wines. Lord Carnarvon, in eulogising the paper, declared a closer uuiou of the colonies with England was a matter of necessity, out he thought it desirable that the first advance in that direction should be left to the colonies.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company has declared a dividend, for tho half-year, at tho rate of 10 per cent.
At a banquet tendered to Mr. Parnell, the members of his party claimed that they had the entire support and sympathy of Australia and America.
Many members of the Conserative party are protesting against the action of the Government in withdrawing the excise Licensing Clause in the Local Government Bill. The publicans are making no attempt to have tho clause reinstated. The Temperance party and Unionist Liberals hope to prevent the excision of Sunday Trading Clauses.
The alarming symptoms of the Emperor's illness reported yesterday are abating, and His Imperial Majesty is now able to take his food in a natural manner. He is a good deal stronger, and constantly discharges state duties.
The King of Sweden, who is paying a royal visit to the Emperor at Potsdam, has been cordially received.
BERLIN, June 13
An official bulletin published concerning the Emperor's health, states that his breathing is easier and his strength much improved.

The physicians in attendance on the Emperor are of opinion that an abscess is forming between the trachea and the gnllet, smd that it it bursts upwards his Imperial Majesty may recover from the present attack. If, however, the abscess Ghould burst inwards, they think suffocation would be the inevitable resu/fc.
SOFIA, Jane 14.
M. Stambouloff, Premier, has resigned, owing to a dissension in the Cabinet. The cause of disagreement between Ministers is said to have arisen over the recent sentence imposed upon M. Papoff, one of the ex-regentß, who was convicted of embezzling Government moneys. Prince Ferdinand is not disposed to accept the resignation oi the Premier.
NEWCASTLE, June 14.
The steamer Nemsia collided with the ship Galatea in the harbor last night. The bridge, funnel, and lifeboat of the steamer was smashed, the hull was damaged, and the mainmast carried away. The stern of the ship was twisted, and several plates were broken.
