WELLINGTON, April 25.

An old man named James Gould, 74 years of age, was found dead under his bed this morning. He has been supported by the Benevolent Society for the last three years. He died from general debility. AUCKLAND, April 20. Grave fears are entertained for the safety of John Brown, storekeeper. Public Works Department Auckland, who has been missing since Saturday week. About a fortnight ago Brown was despatched to Hamilton to inspect a quantity of sleepers.

He was last seen on the afternoon of the 15th inst. on the Hamilton bridge. Enquiries have failed to discover his whereabouts. It is feared that he has been drowned in tbe Waikato river.
