New Plymouth, April 15.
Cattle. — At Inglewood, on Tuesday, there was only a small muster of cattle and few buyers. Most of the young stock, however, were sold at about ruling rates. Calves made 3s Gd to 5s Gd ; good steers, yearlings, 21s ; 18-months heifers, in calf. 265 ; springing do, jE2 Gs Gd to £3 ; cows, 30b to £3 17s Gd.
Produce, — Butter is in more demand, owing to enquiry for Sydney. What the market is there I cannot say — It is reported worth lOd to lid, but I think it is rather doubtful if our shipments will realise this figure. However, no doubt, shipments will be made at once, and the point soon be settled. We can only hope the demand will continue. The duty, as far as I can learn, is still payable there.
Potatoes are coming in freely, with a downward tendency.
