LONDON, April 12. The amount of Mr. Goschen's conversion scheme is £450,000,000.
At the wool sales, merinos are hardening in price. Faulty sorts and scoured are a halfpenny lower. There is a good demand for crosßbreds.
At the annual meeting of shareholders of the Bank of South Australia, the report was adopted. Sir John H. Kennaway, the chairman, said he hoped that the statement of the directors that dividends should be reduced in future, in order to increase the reserve fund, would be seriously considered by the shareholders.
Sir Graham Berry discussing a recent despatch of Lord Knutsford, considers it unfortunate diplomacy as he bracketed the New Hebrides, and recidivists question whereas the colonies had a solid reasons for defending each question separately. He thinks that unless the matter is promptly settled it will lead to serious
difficulty in the future. He rejoiced at the action of the Marquis. of Salisbury, who was continually bringing the question under tbe notice of the French Government.

The Journal de St. Petersburg states that the marriage of Prince Alexander of Battenburg: to Princess Victoria would rekindle the hope of the Bulgarian people that Prince Alexander would be restored to the throne. It considers his restoration would hinder the tranquility and defer the pacific relations with the powers.
ADELAIDE, April 13.
Pleuro Pneumonia has broken out at Endunda, 70 miles north of Adelaide. Precautions have been taken to prevent the disease spreading.

Owing to the great demand for space at the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition an extra building will be erected.
The Railway Commissioners decline to appoint a board of inquiry into the charges against Mr. Allison Smith, as they are of opinion that there is nothing to justify it.
Parliament meets early in June. The session is expected to be devoted principally to a revision of the tariff and electoral reform.
