AUCKLAND, Deoember 29. Tbe hearing of the case againßt the " spielers," arrested on the Ellerslie racecourse on Monday, was concluded to-day a,t tbe Police Court. Mr. Baddeley, B.M. imgceed the following etateaoeai — John Grappel, John Hart, Fred. Holmes, Chas. Sherman, and Allan Cockburn were each fined £80, or to undergo two months' imprisonment; Albert Charles. Chabband was fined £50, or three months! imprisonment. Similar charges of unlawful gam-, ing against MoConnelly and Smith were dismissed. ' ■
