CHRISTCHUBCH, December 20. At a special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon, the committee appointed to {consider the question of
immigration brought up the following resolution :— " That, in the opinion of the committee of this chamber, active steps should be taken to encourage suitable immigration on a large scale, for the purpose of settling the waste lands of the colony and developing mineral and other resources." The resolution was unanimoasly adopted by the chamber.
