Competition in the various events shall bo strictly limited to hacks. No horse may start that has ever won public money, except as a hack, or is nominated, or has for six months previously been nominated, for any other race than a hack race. The Maori races to be contested by horses the bonafide property of Maori owners, and trained and ridden by Maoris. No horse engaged in tue other races will be allowed to run as a Maori hack. Nominations shall contain age, name, color, sex, pedigree, performances of horse, and name and colors of owner. No qualification fee required. Decision of Stewards shall be final. Horses in the Handicaps and Maiden Race, must be ridden in the nominated colors, under a penalty of two guineas. J. R. STEWART, Hon. Sec. PATEA INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION. An Exhibition of Art, Science, and Industry will be held in Patea from December 26th to January 2nd, inclusive (and longer if necessary). Exhibits will be divided in four classes : 1. — Industries and Manufactures 2 — Home Industries 3. — Curios and Works of Art 4. — Produce and Raw Material And extra classes if found necessary. Exhibits will be carried free of cost to and from any Government railway station, and by Anchor Co and Union S.S. Co.'s steamers.
