MELBOUENE, November 22. The proposal of Sir Henry Parkes to alter the name of New South Wales to Australia has excited much ridicule and adverse comment throughout Victoria. The Naval Defence Bill passed all its stages in the Legislative Assembly without opposition.

The Premier (Sir Henry Parkes) gave notice in the Legislative Assembly to day of a bill, changing tbe name of the colony to Australia.
