SHEEP STEALING.

(PER PIiESS ASSOCIATION.")

INVERCARGILL, November 22. After a hearing extending over several clays, the Bench of Justices at Wyndham sent John Meikle and his son Arthur tor trial, on a charge of stealing 27 sheep from Isley Station, the property of the New Zealand Loan Investment Company. It was stated in the evidence that 1000 sheep were missing. The elder Meikle alleged that the charge was trumped up to prevent him going to Wellington to prosecute, as a complaint was lodged with the Government against the magistrates, the police, counsel and others in connection with some previous charges.
