Stratford Railway Committee.
A meeting of the above committee was held at the Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday, at 3.30. Present — Messrs. I. Bayly (chairman County Council), C. B. Bayley (chairman Normanby Town Board), A. Fantham (chairman Hawera Road Board). Laishley, and Yorke. Mr. I. Bayly in the chair.
The minutes of the first meeting were taken as read.
It was explained that Mr. T. Hutchison was unavoidably absent at the Supreme Court, New Plymouth.
A telegram from the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Auckland, was read (already published).
Correspondence sent by several members of the committee was reported. The Chairman stated that the chairmen of Ngaire Road Board and Manaia Town Board bad expressed their willingness to assist in the matter.
The committee then considered a copy of a petition sent from Auckland to Far* liament, and proceeded to draft a petition from Taranaki district to Parliament, in favor of the line via Stratford or Ngaire.
The rough draft having been agreed to, Messrs. Buyly, Hutchison, Laishley, and Yorke were appointed a sub-comm ittee and were empowered to have the necessary figures inserted in the petition, to have the same printed and circulated for signature without loss of time. Tke committee adjonrned at 5.30.
