The Mount Carrington Gold Mining Company of New South Wales has been registered with a capital of Frozen mutton ex Ormuz, from Australia, is realising 3sd per lb. New Zealand rnuttou is quoted a halfpenny higher. Papers are filled with comments on the interview between Crispi and Bismarck. It is stated that one of the results of the admission of Italy into the Anstro-German alliance is an agreement between the three powers to oppose French aggression. The Staudard Btates that the Admiralty intend to replace H.M.S. Nelson by the Orlando, a steam cruiser of 5000 tons, which is approaching completion at Barrow. A deputation from Kidderminster has presented Mr. Gladstone with a handsome carpet. They congratulated him oa his Irish meapureß, aud condemned the repressive measures adopted by the Government. Mr. Gladstone accepted the presentation, and, in thanking them for the gift, said, though he had suffered a crushing defeat in the elections of 1886, yet recent elections indicated that public opinion was rapidly changing, and he was hopeful soon of returning to power. The secession of Goschen and other Liberals had tended greatly to weaken the Liberal party, but those gentlemen were now placed in a most deplorable position, being connected with the Conservative party.
