NAPIER, September 27.

Tbe election caused intense excitement, both sides being very confident. When it was known that Ormond bad won a disagreeable scene occurred. When Ormond appeared on the balcony of the Empire Hotel, he was greeted with filthy language by his opponents in tbe crowd, who also assaulted him with stones. Several persons on the balcony were hit, though not much hurt. A number of windows were smnslied.
