SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING.

Tbe moutbly meeting of tbe committee was held on Wednesday, 3rd, at 8 p m. There were present— Messrs. W. Pettigrew (in the chair), Cross, McHardy, Greig, McSweeney, and Rev. Allsworth.

Correspondence. — From the secretary to Education Board, tbat nominations for a member of tbe board be sent not later than tbe 26th ult.

Letters from committees to support certain candidates for tbe board, and fiotn candidates also requesting support. Tbafc t)>e services ot the assistnat teacher lie would be dispensed with on the 30tb September ; tbat the vacancy would be filled up in due course; and tbat the board would grant tbe bead teacher throe days leave of absence (subject to the approval of the school committee) to visit tbe central school for the purpose of ascertaining tbe mode of instructing pupil teachers there in force.

From tbe teacher, tbat the inspector desired tbat two pupil teachers be appointed, and recommending Elicn Capcl as pupil teacher, and Minnie Pennington as cadet.

It was resolved, That the teacher's recommendations be agreed Co.

Resolved, That leave of absence be granted to the teacher to attend the Central School on the 10th, llth, and 12th days of the month.

Resolved, That the secretary write to the board, requesting the granting to the teacher of two hours' leave on the polling day oi the general election.

Resolved, That the rope to the bell be shifted outside the building.

Tenders were opened for cleaning the school buildings : iroin P. McPheen and l\ E. MuSweeaoy, both for JtS per quarter. — II was i\eeiueu. by baMot, hi favor of the Walter.

Resolved, That the chairman ask Capt. Cnpel to allow one of his meu to drill the children.

Resolved, That Messrs. Cross and Greig be the Visiting Committee for the current month. This concluded the business.
