MANUTAHI.
, (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Yeßterday afternoon (Sunday, 19th), about ; 2p.m:, the house occupied by Mr. Patrick O'Niel was completely destroyed . by fire, and, as a high wind was blowing at the time, nothing was saved. The family were all away in Patea at the confirmation jmd Jubilee service held in their church — Eoman Catholic. The origin of th&fire is unknown at present. So far as J.. can learn, the house was insured for i?SO, and £20 on tbe furniture. Inspector Bindon has recently paid our school a surprise visit, and is extremely pleased with tbe school and teacher. In fact, he recommends Mr. Victor for appointment to a better school. Mr. Victor has made himself very popular amongst all classes here, and his removal will cause a gap in onr social circle that will not be easily filled up. The midwinter holidays are now on, teacher and children thoroughly enjoying the needed repose.
