Egmont Star Jubilee Edition.

A special illustrated sixteen page Jubilee edition of the Egmont Star will be issued from this office on Saturday. It will contain a life history of Her Majesty Queen Victoria in seven chapters, extending over 18 columns of the supplement. A short history of Queen Victoria's reign is added, extending over about six columns. There are some fourteen eengravingg g depicting the principal events during Her Majesty's reign, and including several life-like portraits of Queen Victoria as girl, bride, wite, and widow. Mr. J. L. Kelly's Jubilee song is published in this special edition ; and seeing that it was accorded the first prize in the Evening Post Jubilee ode competition, it should satisfy the ta9te of the most critical among us. The fac simile of a letter from the Queen to Sir George Grey is reproduced, and several exact imitations of Her Majesty's autograph. Coronation anecdotes connected with twenty-three English monarchs conclude, what we trust our readers may regard as an acceptable memento of Jubilee Day.

Captain Edwin wires :—lndications: — Indications bad weather, same as wired yesterday, and heavy gale ; glass rise fast, and heavy rain. The railway department have decided to grant lower fares on Jubilee day to Wanganui and back, and have decided to fix the fares at 8s and 5s 6d for return from Hawera to Wanganui and back and 6s 6d and 4s 6d from Fatea and back for first and second class respectively on the 21st only. Many Hawera pleasure makers will be grateful for this concession which has been strongly urged both by Press and politician. Arrangements have been made by which on Sunday next a special Queen's Jubilee service will be held at Saint Mary's church. The Volunteers and Cadets will turn out for church parade and will march through the town accompanied by the Hawera Brass Band. The Queen's Accession service will be repeated and full choral music has been arraDgcl. Special sermons both in the morning and evening will be delivered by the Eev. Mr. Root. The service will conclude with the National Anthem.
