WASTE LAND BOARD.

A meeting 'of> the Land Board was held on Monday. -Present: — Oominissionerof Lands (Mr. T. Humphries), and Messrs; Livingston,' Syme, Standish, and Kelly. TRANSFERS. Norris. 'jianted. T. II Gloin, Hawera, asked. to have deferred payment section 19, block 14, Kaupokonni, transferred to John Fraaor. Granted. R. G. Allsworth, Opunake, applied to have section 30, block 14, Kaupokonui, transferred to George Taylor. Granted. Chas. Qnin, jun., made a like request in regard to lease of section 23, block 14, Ngaire, to Henry Matthew Quin. Granted. members' travelling allowances. A communication waß read from the Under Secretary for Crown Lands, Wellington, drawing attention to the large expenditure upon payment of fees and travelling expenses to members of Land Boards in the colony, and the Government and [Parliament suggested to tbe board that they should consider, with a view to economy, the advisability of holding their meetings at intervals of more than a fortnight. Mr. Standish moved " That the Minister of Grown Lands be informed that in the opinion of the board owing to the large amount of business now being done in this district, and the great number of deferred payment and perpetual leaseholders whose cases require dealing with in various ways, great public inconvenience wculd arise by the board meeting at longer intervals than at present." Seconded by Mr. Kelly and carried. CAPITALISING DEFERRED PAYMENT LANDS. Applications from Joyce and Fulter, solicitors, on behalf of Fred Taylor, re sec. 4, block 14, Kaupokonui ; A. Wills, (Rahotu), re sec. 74, block 1, Opunake ; £liza Boss, (Pihama), re sec. 19, block 13, Opunake ; Win. Ludlow, (Otakebo), re sec. 20, blcck 13, Kanpokonui, were considered and granted. PERPETUAL LEASES. It was reported that there were only five holders under tbe perpetual leases who were in arrears with their rent for one instalment only. FORFEITED. The Banger reported that deferred payment section 5, block 2, Opunake, held by Cornelius Coffey, had be9n declared forfeited by the Resident Magistrate at New Plymouth and an order given for a bailiff to enter and take possession on behalf of the Crown. MANAIA " THIRDS " EXPENDITORE. The Manaia Town Board submitted schedule of proposed expenditure of deferr?d payment thirds in the district, amounting to .£l7O 2s 3d. SURRENDER. The Public Trustee applied to surrender deferred payment sections 18 and 43, block 3, Ngaire, held by Patrick Ryan (lunatic). Granted. FORFEITED LEASES AND LICENSES. The Crown Lands Banger reported the following leases under deferred payment and permanent leases had been forfeited by the Resident Magistrate at Manaia: Section 10, block IV, Kaupokonui, deferred payment; section 16, block XIV, Opunake, permanent lease; section 30, block IX, Kaupokonui, permanent lease ; section 4, block XIII, Opunake, permanent lease; section 46, block X, Kanpokonui, deferred payment. MISCELLANEOUS. A number of applications re completion of deferred payment leases, &c, were dealt with, and the board adjourned rill 2 o'clock.
