The enquiry regarding the Windsor railway accident was resumed to-day, when the driver, fireman, and guard, of the first traiu, were examined. They stated that they considered the train sufficiently protected by signals, and the guard, whose name is Long, contradicted point blank the evidence of Cameron, who yesterday stated that he had requested Long to go back and wurn the express. Charles Forwood, solicitor, who was arrested Wednesday last, on a charge of larceny as a bailee in New Zealand, has been remanded for a week. (special to press association.) LONDON, May 28. A distuibance has occurred at Arran, a tax-collector being stoned by a determined band of islauders. The police who esoorteil him away were also stoned, and in defence fired on the disturbers, wounding several of them. The fire which originated in the New York tram stables was got under at six o'clock yesterday morning. One life was lost. The stables, beside the horses, contained thirty tram cars and an enormous qnantity of fodder, the whole of which were destroyed. Twenty other buildings were also burned down. The unemployed in Dublin held a demonstration to-day. Forming into a procession, they marched through the city, carrying a black flag surmounted with a skull and cross bones. The gathering was dispersed|by the police. May 29. The Liberals and Parnellites are likely to limit their amendments on the Crimes Bill. The Government will, therefore* endeavor to bring the debate to a close within a fortnight. Kioting has occurred at Milford where the wealthy farmers are refusing to pay church tithes, and 2000 farm laborers compelled the police to stop distraining for tbe amounts. The Paris Gaulois estimates that 250 lives were lost in the Opera Comique fire. Twenty five persons were found suffocated in the drinking bar, and eighteen in the green room. The following is the probable allotment of portfolios in M. Eouvier's Ministry : — Finance, M. Eouvier ; the Interior, M. Fallieres ; Marine, Admiral Jaures ; Education, M. Spuller; Works, M. Barbe; Agriculture, M. Dantremes.
