From latest accounts it appears that the losa of life at the opera cornique, when the fire broke out daring the performance of Mignon, last night, is greater than at first reported. In addjtipn to the deaths among the performers, 60 persons were more or leas seriously injured. It is feared that several bodies are in the ruins of the building, which was completely destroyed. St. PETEBSBUBG, May 26. The Ottoman Porte has refused the Remands of the Cretan inhabitants, and threatens to proclaim martial law throughout the island unless they are at onqe withdrawn. The Great European Powers, however, are dissuading Turkey from carrying out the threat.
