CHRISTCHURCH, April 25. A proposal to celebrate the Queen'a Jubilee here by the erection of a Home (as proposed by Mr. Hulbert) is finding very substantial encouragement. Mr. D. C. Clarkson lias sent his cheque for .£SO, and a number of leading citizens and merchants have given promises of donations varying from ten to fifty guineas. •The list of such promises is rapjdly extending in length.

At a meeting of the Masonic District Grand Lodge of Canterbury, it was decided that it Avould be more consistent with tbe principles of the craft — benevolence and charity — that the Home proposal should bs masonically adopted as their form of celebrating the Jubilee. It wis also decided that the District Grand Matter should issue lists to the various lodges, and call upon members to contribute libsrally. Notice of motion was given, to the effect Ibafc the District Grand Lodge should, from its own muds, vote a sum towards the same object.
