NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended to present to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the next Session thereof a Bill to be entitLed, "The Patea Harbour Further Empowering Act, 1887." By the said Bill it is intended to empower the Patea Harbour Boartf to borrow the sum of £20,000 for Harbour Improvements, and to levy a Eate over the Patea Harbour District of One Farthing in the Pound on the Rateable Value of all Rateable Property iv the said District for providing security for the paj inent of the Interest on such sum, viz., £20,000. By the said Bill it is provided that no such rate shall be levied until the cousent of the Ratepayers in the said District shall have been obtained thereto by a Poll of such Ratepayers, to be taken in manner provided by the said Bill. The Patea Harbour District, as denned by the " Patea Harbour Board Act, 1885," consists of all that area in the Provincial Districts of "Wellington and Taranaki, bounded towards the North-West by the New Plymouth Harbour Board Rating District, as described in the Secoijd Schedule to "The New Plymouth Harbour Board Ordinance, 1873, Amendment Act, 1877," from the mouth of the Waingongoro Eiver to to the Wanganui River, thence towards the South-East by the (bounties of Waitotara and Patea respectively to the source of the AVest branch of the Waitotara River, thence towards the East generally by the said Waitotara River to the Ocean, and thence towards the South- West by the <^cean to the place of commencement. A copy of the said Bill is deposited at each of the undermentioned placesResident Magistrate's Court, Patea. Resident Magistrate's Court, Hawera. Post Office, Waverly. Post Office, Normanby.
