— ♦ (per united pkess association). WELLINGTON, April 20. Colonel Brett will move an Address-in-Reply in the Legislative Council, and Mr. P. H. Fraser, member for Te Aro, in the House of Representatives. The suggestions of the Imperial Conference re colonial defence will be discussed at next meeting of the Cabinet. AUCKLAND, April 20. Last night Miss Minnie Gledhill, aged 20 years, second daughter of G. Gledhill, cordial manufacturer, was fearfully burned in her residence at Pousonby . The curtain of the "bedroom had caught fire irorn a gas jet, and, in putting out the flames, the lady's dress igoited. Losing her presence of mind, she rushed out, and the air fanned the flames. She was terribly burned about the lower part of the body before effective help arrived. She lingered in great agony till this morning, when she expired. A younger sister, aged 15, got badly burnt in trying to extinguish the ftam'es. The neighbors put out the five in the bedroom before much damage was done.
DUNEDIN, April 20.
Mr. Barrou received a vote of confidence last night at Ross. At Pioslyn he declared against protection, and favored a revision of tbe Charitable Aid Act. and school committees having power to giant permission for Bible reading in schools. He received a vote of confidence.
The Mosgiel Woollen Company has declared an interim dividend of 8 per cent.
