IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

LONDON, April 14.

Tbe Imperial Conference was resumed to-day, when the following subjects were under consideration : — First-Empowering trustees to invest in colonial securities, and the possibility of legislation for tbe removal of the present difficulty. Sir Dillon Bell submitted memoranda on tbis subject, wbioh was generally approve/I of, hut which was reserved for further consideration. ■ "Second — A bill to be introduced affecting the question of wills in the colonies. With regard to. tbis matter. Mr. Horland stated the Treasurer had agreed to an amendment in the Colonial Begisters Act, relieving shares on colonial registers from tbe payment of English probate duty. Tnird — A discussion took place relative to stamp duties on transfers of colonial stocks. Nothing, however, was decided upon* Fourth — The delegates discussed (be desire which had been expressed by tbe colonial Governments that unclaimed dividends on colonial stooks be treated in the same manner as unclaimed dividends on consols. Steps are to be taken winch, it is expected, will remedy tbis difficulty. Fifth— Amendment of the marringe laws. It is unlikely that anything can be dove io this matter until an English Act is passed.

The Conference adjourned until Saturday next.

At to-day's sitting of the Imperial Coufereoce, tbe following subjects were under fIisD»BS)D»: — EoJoyeftniftDfc of Judg/uents, Bankruptcy Laws, and Winding up of FobHo Companies. Tbe delegates generally fayored reciprocity in enforcement pf judgments, and uniformity of tbe baukrnptcy laws of England and ber colonies. Tbe representatives of tbe Imperial Government agreed tbat it was desirable to amend the existing system in connection With winding up companies ; aud tbe Conference settled a draft of proposals for legislation in this direction.

At Monday's sitting of tbe Conference the postal and cabje services were discussed, as well as the question of defences.
