Auckland, March 11. Horses. — There was an improvement in , the demand at the Durham yards last Friday, but very few good animals were ■ brought forward. There was no noteworthy alteration. Competition was brisk throughout the sale last Friday. For Bmall animals there was an advanced price given, but nothing startling. Wool, Hides, and Skins. — No alteration. The demand for good heavy ox hides is brisk. We quote ox at 4d to 4f d ; medium, 3d to 3Jd; cow hides, 2£d to 3Jd per lb; cab! skins, from Is to 3s 4d each. Fat Cattle. — There has been a steady demand and an average supply, resulting in a slightly upward tendency in value. Sheep. — Fat sheep were in moderate number at Newmarket on Thursday, and prices ruled the same as on the previous week. Fat wethers sold at from 8s 6d to 12e; ewes, 6s 6d to 10s. Fat lambs were in adequate supply, and sold at from 6s 9d to lls sd. Pigs. — Scarce; worth from ljd to 3d per lb, live weight.
