To the Editor of the Star. Sir,— Three weeks ago I sowed twelve bushels of wheat on six acres of open land near the beach. The innumerable larks and yellow hammers— etpecuHy the former — have picked off every sprout, that which was drilled in faring v badly as the broadcast sown.
