AUCKLAND, July 31. Two bodies, natnel}', those of a* native woman and girl, have been recovered from the volcanic mud at Wairoa. They have been identified as those of Miarora nml UaKt, moclier acid daughter. The bodies are pretty well preserved. It appeal s that the girl lmd been ill for some time bpforo tiie eruption, and when escaping with her mother «ot tired and had to rest on the way. Miroata might have saved heiself by leaving her daughter, and tho sequel iR eloquently shown by the attitude in which the bodies were found, the mother standing clasping the girl in her arms for support, while the girl held close to her breast.
Traces of the missing man, Colton, have boon found for twelve miles along Taupo road, and the track is then lost in tho lern of the back of Waikanku.
