THE COLONIAL BANK.

(CNITKD PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

DUXEDIN. Jitfy 28. The half-yearly meeting ol the Colonial Bank was held to day, when the report and balance-sh^ec were adopted, and Mr. John Roberts formally elected to the director's chair. The Hon. G. McLean, in moving the adoption, said the business was going ahead fairly. They desired to get along Btendilv, not spreading their wings too much. During the half-year matters hal mended very materially by an increase in the price of wool, which, however, was not so great as many supposed. He regretted thnt an advance on the rates of interest on deposits had been forced on all bulks through steps having been tiken in Australia. After dealing with the figures in the balancesheet, he sitid shareholders should consider the question of changing the halfyearly Christmas holidays to employees. The chang • would bring the wool into one, and the grain into the other halfyear.
