CUSTOMS DEFICIT, £121,000.

WELLINGTON, April 3. The total receipts from New Zealand beer duty for the year ended 31st March amounted to i-56,979, as against the estimate of £62,000. The receipts are therefore £6202 under the estimate. The beer duty for March yielded £4740. March has proved another bad month for Customs reveuue, the amount collected in the month for the whole colony being only £115,816, as against an estimated monthly average of £126,666, also as compared with £124,495 for February, and £125,117 for March, 1883. The total for the year is therefore £1,398,951, as against an estimate of £1,520,000, leaving a deficiency of £121,048 on that head.
