LONDON, November 16.
Government have officially informed Parliament that they bave declined to accede to the proposals of the Porte for the appointment of an international commission to decide upon the future of Egypt. In the House of Commons Sir Stafford North cote expressed dissatisfaction at the decision arrived at, stating that he considered the matter was one in which all Europeans were interested.
Mr. Dillon, member for County Tipperary, who recently stated his intention to resign bis seat in the House of Commons on the ground of ilMienlth, but was persuaded to withdraw his resignation, has had a relapse, and will therefore, in all probability, carry out his resolution to retire from public life at an early date.
Dr. Parry, suffragan Bishop of Dover, who has been nominated to the vacant bishopric of Sydney, will decline to accept the position.
The long and bloody struggle between the Republics of Chili and Peru is at last likely to terminate. Negotiations for peace bave been entered into, and the bitter hostility previously prevailing has given place to a more amicable feeling between the two countries.
