MAYORAL ELECTION.
To the Editor of the Star.
Sir,— l attended last night's meeting, and after heaving the views of the candidates, I was anxious'to ask, what I consider a pertinent question, viz. : " "What would be the probable cost of a reservoir sufficiently large to supply Hawera with water." I attempted three different timeßto put the question, but was on each occasion prevented from doing so, owing to the action of one man, and that man flatters himself on being a leading councillor. "Lord help us?" Mr. Thomson has 6hown the people of Hawera that he is not afrad to meet the people face to face, as also has Mr. Bate, but yet, Sir, is it not contemptible to see one man so biased as to try to prevent both sides of the question being fairly heard. " Fair play, is bonny play," and if that individual who interrupted the meeting last evening could only see himsef ns others see him, it would be to the advantage of the ratepayers of Hawera. " Egotist."
