CRICKET.
MANAIA V. PARIHAKA.
Although you will, no doubt, receive the scores in this match in the usual way, I take the opportunity of making a few remarks on the play. Thompson won the match, his batting being first-rate, and I was glad to notice that he has taken the hint given in my last. Frase? and Good bawled well for Manaia, and Hani, and Taylor, for the visitors, were y.ery'j difficult to play; the latter's first' score'
ll
was an excollent one. Major Goring, as usual, was the life of his eleven, his batting being good in the second innings. By the way, the P.D. mnde a mistake in my last. ' I see that Matheson, one of the best nil-round men in the eleven, was left out. He is a good bat, first class in the field, and in bowling has a great break from the off, but pitches too short. Coveu-point.
