HAWERA V. NEW PLYMOUTH.
Instead of a two daya' match, it was decided at the last moment that there should be but a one day's match, and this was played yesterday. Hawera got considerably the worst of it ou the first innings, on which the match was decided. G. Bayly bowled a good many maidens, but was by no means up to his old form, and the team was therefore weak in this department. In the field too there were a good many mistakes. On the other hand, F. liayly, the "demon" of the coast, was very difficult to play, and he took most of the wickets. Appended are the scores : —
