ENQUIRY INTO LATE RAIL WAY ACCIDENT.
(UNITpiJ PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
WELLINGTON, Tbia Day.
Mesfliq. Hannay and Lowe, in their report of the enquiry into the late railway acQident near the Waitati, state that no evidence . was adduced, and among all the circumstances nothing has transpired to point prominently to an immediate cause of the derailment of the train. To all appearance the line wad in good running order and the engine in good working order, and although the leading wheels were somewhat worn, they were not sufficiently; 'so to warrant that the cause of the accident should be attributed to them. There was no positive evidence to show whajt did cause the train to leave the rails. ''■- They dd/aot pfii that any negligence qi wrongful act^of any person caused this accident bat .'collateral circumstanceVhrought under notice during the enquiry demand strict investigation, and will result in increased vigilance throughout the service., • ; , Mr. E.
