MANAIA. TOWN BOARD MEETING .
The fifth ordinary monthly meeting Manaia Town Board was held on * Wednesday evening. Present — Messrs. Jackson in the, (chair), Days, Sinclair,, and McCarthy. ' \ • -\ After the minutes and outwards And inwards correspondence had been read, the following resolutions were passed :->—
M That the manager of the Bank' of Australasia be asked by the clerk to grant £150 overdraft, if required, on the security of the rate of is. to be struck forthwith, and the publicans' licenses due about 21st June next." • •' ■
"That Mr. Paneti,' engineer to the board, be paid £13 ISs. for all claims against the board, 'including work re» quired to be put Jn water-table pegs from Octagon to the Drill Hall." " That the Land Commissioner be requested to have thb recreation reserve vested in the board whenever ifc ceases to be- used' for general Government purposes." The Commissioner of Crown Lands having requested the Town Board to nominate trustees for cemetery reserve, the following names were agreed upon, viz. : Messrs. Daniel Hughes, George A. Hurley, James Jackson, and John Hall. The Waverley Tdwn Board asked for help from Manaia Town Board to defray expenses of a test case against county councils re license fees.— lt , was resolved that the .Waverley Town Board be informed that this board cannot guarantee any part of the expenses, seeing that license fees have not been withheld by the Hawera County Council. The question of assisting all who might wish kerbihg to their footpaths was held
Mr. J. Jackson gave notice of mqtijpn, "That, ft by-law be framed prohibiting the use of shingle's within the original town boundaries." . , The Board adjourned till Friday, 7 p.to.
