' , This' Company is proiected with the object of providing tne means ot preparing/for export meat aH^airy produce by the refrigerating or 6ther process. ' ' l : ' The present intention is to prepare, the 1 meat and dairy produce for sbjp-' ment on owner's account, and, to arrange for the sale thereof in t)ie London market.- • , ■ • The Company .has power eithejr to. purchase or ship on owner's account^ as maybe found desirable, aud also' to control the sal 6as well as the freezing and export of the producer " it being evident that a concentration of interests is necessary in placing shipments on the markets until the trade has been developed. The Company propose to take an interest of £2000 in a new steamer (which is to be builfc or purchased)', ' containing a cooling chamber capable of stowing 1000 carcases. This will' also 1 materially benefit the ' trade betw.een Wanganui aud Wellington. ; The preparation and f storage of cheese and butter for export' will become an important operation of the company, and, as the market in England for these products is practically unlimited at prices showing 50 per cent advance on cheese anjd 100. per/ cent on butter over those current in the colony, an extensive export may ' be anticipated. The Company ' recognising' this, will provide cool Btorage until a vessel is ready to receive it. The necessary appliances for cool' storage have been erected in the docks at Home. It is expected that the Company will pay a fair dividend ou the outlay,' as the following calculation will show: — The estimated export per year is 50,000 carcases,' averaging 72lbs each, which, at a cost of £d per lb for freezing, would give a yield of 3s. per carcase. Taking dnef-third as the profit, it would ' amount to £2500, being interest on a capital o| £20,000 at 12| per cent.
