WAR IN EGYPT.
[Reuter's Telegrams.] ALEXANDRIA, Sept. 21. The rebel garrison at Damietta have finally refused to surrender, and show no sigu of yielding. It is expected that an attack by the British troops aud the gunboats will be made forthwith. Further arrests of members of the National party aud Arabi's partizans are daily being made. A large number of prominent persons have been made prisoners at Constantinople. Major-General Sir Evelyn Wood has been ordered to proceed with three regiments to Damietta, to cooperate with the fleet in the assault on that place. The latest reports to hand state that Abdcllad has left Damietta, for Cairo, and that the rebel garrison has now yielded. September 22. The British ironclads have commenced to shell Fort Ghenieleh, at Damietta. LONDON, September 19. Aboukir has been occupied by the British tioops. Arabi's own regiment has refused to surrender, and has marched to Damietta, where Abdellad still maintains a defiant attitude, which, it is suspected, is secretly instigated by the Porte. Arabi, while at Kafradowar, was, it is stated, in constant dread of being poisoned. The natives are now freely journeying throughout the country commanded by our troops, and thorough confidence seems to be restored.
