NGAIRE ROAD BOARD.

At the Land Board meeting on Monday tbe Banger presented a report on the Sroposed expenditure of the Ngaire Boad ioard, of which the following is an epitome : — He stated that he had delayed his report for the purpose of getting returns from the Government and the Ngaire Road Board re deferred payment money already expended in tbe Ngaire district. The report continues : " From them I found that in one case — the Cardiff road — £228 has been expended, as against receipts amounting to Mo l3s. 4d.; and authority is now asked for to be allowed to spend a further sum of £M during the current year, which would make a total of £322 expenditure against £40 18s. 4d. Of course, to obtain this large amount for one road other roads must suffer, and I find that against £53 receipts on the Waingongoro road no expenditure has taken place. Against £172 Opunake road, only £50 has been spent, and smaller deficiencies on other roads. Tbe schedule I forward with this letter will more clearly show the receipts and expenditure than I can here, and will better, enable you to judge as to the fairness or otherwise of the schedule furnished by the Ngaire Boad Board. I beg to recommend that, in order to save time, the Land Board should indicate to the Ngaire Boad Board the manner in which they desire the schedule to be amended, and that on receipt from the Chairman of the Ngaire Boad Board of a letter agreeing to these recommendations, the usual resolution should be forwarded to tho Treasury. The schedule of proposed expenditure, as recommended by the Banger, is ns follows : — Warwick Boad, nil; Anderson Boad, £45 10s.; Brecken Eoad, £10; Skinner Boad, £48; Sole Boad, £10; Cliuaie Eoad, £108 ; Cheal Egad, £85 ; Brook's Boad, nil ; Cornwall Eoad; £52; Finnerty Eoad, £55; Bird Eoad, £G0 ; Opunake Eoad, nil ; Waingongoro Boad, £24: 'WingroveEoad, nil." — On the motion of Mr. Standish, it was resolved, •' That the expenditure as suggested by the Banger be approved of." — Herald.
