' Sir,— ln your, issue of Friday, August 4th, I notice a letter signed "Moderationisfc," the perusal -yofiwhich gave me great pleasure, as it opens a door ot usefulness in Hawerivi winch I feared was, most effectually barred afchinsfc ' tHe ingress of " Good Teraplarism." I have often spoken to friends in Hawera, and urged the necessity of doing something towards establishing a temperance cause, iv the town, but was always met by the statement, "ft is useless attempting anything of the kind ;" but I hope "Moderatiduist " has alreaay paved the -way ■ towards the end I have so long wished to see accomplished.' '•> On Sunday, August 20th, I shall (DV), be jn Hawera, supplying the place of the .Rev. ,T.; F.
