THE SUEZ CANAL.
\The balance-sheet of the Suez Canal Company for the past year, presented io the shareholders at the annual nesting on the 6th inst., gives the w*al. receipts at ,£2,187,047, and the expenditure at £676,758. The net OTofit for the year is finally shown to be £987,121. Included in the expenses M £464,069 interest on Five and Three Cent. Obligations, £29,855 adDttinistrative expenses in France, 815,770 ditto in Egypt, £14,157 emco o£ tho Domain, £66,591 for raiuiit and navigation service, £78,832 or maintenance and repair of the /anal," £7,150 for water supply, &., aid £331 for expenses concerning the previous year. Various other deducions have to be made, leaving the net >rofit aa above stated. Such a large evenue balance proves one of two ;hingß— either that the efficiency of he Canal is not being maintained as t ought to be or that the transit, >ilotage, and other charges are too lieh.
