WAIMATE ROAD BOARD
Saturday, June 10. Mr. Hastie proposed, and Mr. Martyn seconded, that Mr. Yorke be Chairman of the new Board. — Carried. Resolved, That the Chairman with any other member have power to countersign cheques, and that all their signatures bo forwarded to the Bank of New Zealand. DEFERRED PAYMENT MONIES. Resolved, That the Chairman forward schedule for authority to cover expenditure on Stewart Road and on Manaia Road. Mr. Martyn proposed, That the Chairman of the new Board represent to the Treasury the inconvenience resulting from tho non-payment of deferred pay* nient moneys due to this Board since April 4th, as per Treasury schedule forwarded. Interest being now paid by the Board both on overdrafts and to contractors. — Carried. KA.TJAB ROAD. A discussion ensued as to the romoyal of the gates from tho road leading: through Manaia's grant, known as the Kauae Road. The Chairman thought t that if a good swing gate without a padlock on it had been put upon the road, there would not have been much inconvenience caused to the public. However, in the face of the strong petition forwarded by the ratepayers, it was no doubt, the duty of tho Board to open the road. Mr. Martyn moved, and Mr. Hastie seconded, That Mr. Paneti bo instructed to remove the fences on Kauae Road one chain wide, within seven days from date, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Maori owners forthwith. — Carried. MANAIA ROAD. It was resolved that the Engineer bo empowered to appoint M. Gall road-man on Manaia Road at current rate of wages, if Mr. Gall is prepared to accept the duties on the Manaia Road.— Carried. MEETINGS. It was agreed to hold the usual monthly meeting on the last Saturday in the month, unless special causes required an alteration in the date. The next meeting to be held on Saturday, 24th.
