THE DEPUTATION AT WELLINGTON.

$ [By Telegraph.] WELLINGTON, This Day.

The deputation on" Saturday received a final answer. A sum is to bo put on the estimates for erecting, in one building, R.M. Court, Land Office, and Post .and Telegraph Office. The present Post and Telegraph Office will probably be given to the Publio Works Department, If business is sufficient, there is to be a daily mail delivery of letters, and daily maij to Opunake. A contractor was asked to name a price, but he mentioned an extreme sum. If the expense is not .too large the mail will be granted. An extra train as far as Stratford on Saturday will be granted if the, department can do it. Boylan Road; Normanby • Manaia Road, and Otakeho-Opunake Road will receive favorable consideration by the Commissioner of Public Works, and probably a sum will be placed on the estimates. Lake Rotokari is to be reserved. A loan is to be granted- out of trust funds. The assent of the Trust Fund Commissioners was given on Saturday, and to-day the necessary Order in Council will be issuad. The price. ia-to be six per cent, so that the whole .oxpeqs.e of raising the loan will be a,bout ;815.

i'rom porsonal observation I can say that the deputation has had a very busy time 'of it, and their success is a pretty good indication of their energy. They strongly impressed upon Ministers that the interests of the Land Fund would bo directly served by putting the various roads referred to in a good condition, and Ministers seemed to agree with them. No opportunity lias been missed of doing good, both for the borough and the district. Major Atkinson used all his inHuouce with the various departments, and tho deputation speak highly of him and also of Colonel Trimble. The deputation leave here to-morrow.
