THE DEPUTATION AT WELLINGTON.

WELLINGTON, This Day.
The Mayor and Councillor Kiug arrived hero yesterday, and had an interview with Major Atkinson at 10 o'clock today. They poiuted out the insufficiency of the (present court-house accommodation, and gave a very graphic account of the iuconvenieuce aud trouble attending the transaction of court business, Major Atkinson received the deputation very well, and said the very fact of their coming from Hawera materially strengthened his hands. He had already had some conversation with other Ministers, aud would this afternoon formally lay the claims of the district before the Minister for Justice and Publio Works. He asked for detailed particulars as to the number of people and the extent of the district which the Hawera Court served. Tho deputation gave him some figures and promised further information during tho day. In answer to tho Major, thoy said there were several other matters to which they would aIBO invite his attention, but they first wished a definite auswer republic buildings. This closed the interview, and to-morrow an answer will bo given.
