The trial of eight persons who are charged with having by their negligence in failing to enforce proper precautions, contributed to the catastrophe of the Ring Theatre, has commenced at Vienna. The defendants include — Newald, exBurgomaster, Vienna ; Jansen, director of theatre, and three of his officials ; Landstreamer, of Commissary Police, who was on duty at the theatre on the night of the fire ; firemen in the Vienna Fire Brigade, and official of the Municipal Board of Works. The trial will probably last a long time.
