LECTURE

The Eev. Mr. Allsworth, of Waverley, delivered an interesting lecture at the Presbyterian Church, on Thursday evening, on " Success in life, and bow to win it." The lecturer showed that to succeed, a man must be diligent in business. Brain and industry formed the moat prolific capital in the colonies, especially, and it was a noticeable fact that in the colonies the men of mark were in many if not in the majority of cases persons who bad commenced with nothing but a stout heart, strong arms, and industrious habits. During the evening some excellent selections of music were given by ladies and gentlemen amateurs, the " Death of Nelson," and a duet by a lady and g.ntleman being given in really fine style. The entertainment was most enjoyable, and there was a large attendance. This much we learn from outside enquiry : the usual invitation to the press was not left at this office.
