Timber. — I sold a lot of red pine timber on Saturday, at 10s. to 10s. 9d. per lOOfeet for first-class. — At Waitara on Monday a fnrgo of red pine, ex " Spec," from Pelorus, wiic knocked down at prices ranging from 4f. to Bs. for boards and scantling; and 7s. tJd. to Bb. 9d. for tongued nncl grooved.

Cattle. — The Stratford sale on Tuesday ■was poorly attended, as far as buyers were concerned ; ouly a few head were sold out of a fair quantity yarded. 1 heifer, L 3 ]os. ; 3 yearlings, L 2 2s. 6d.; 5 15-month-oldp, L 2 16s.

At my extra sale at the Waiwataiho on Thursday, the yards were well filled, and, notwithstanding that some pens were sold at lower prices than have of late been ruling, yet, on the whole, the sale was Fatisfactory, all the pens of young cattle and steevß being quitted, chiefly at the auction, and the remainder afterwards. Several lots of single cows and heifers were turned back, the market for these being dull. Bullocks were in great demand, and, had there been some good onps, would have sold well. Sheep, as usual lately, sold freely. Hand-fed calves made 325. 6d. to •355.: yearlings, L 2 ss. to L 2 12s. Gd.; 15 to 18-month-olds, L 2 15s. to L 3 55.; 18 ■month to 2-year-olds. L 3 2s. Gd. to L 3 155.; fnt bullocks, L 6 10s. ; empty store cows, L 3 5a. ; n pen of cows, in calf, L 3 17s. 6d. •to Til 45.; 2 good springing cows, L 6 15s. to L 7 ; cows, in milk, L 4 7s. 6d. to L 5 15s.j heifers, in calf, L 3 10s. to L 4 55.; 1 pair "bullocks, LI 6; 7 dodo, Llolos. ; fat sheep, 12s. to 13s. 6d. ; scrubby ewes and lambs, 3s. 3d. ; poor lambs, ss. I held a cattle sale at Stony Eiver, when Tjut few buyers were present, and only one pen of large large steevs offered, but were held for L 5 los. The lots sold were as follows: — 3 quiet heifei'R, with calves at foot, L 5 each ; 1 springing heifer, L 5 7s. 6d. ; 1 cow, L 5 10s. ; I heifer, L 4 2s. 2d ; 2 do.
