THE HAWEEA TOWN HALL COMPANY.

The meeting of the shareholders in this company, called for yesterday, lapsed for want of a quorum. The following was the report which the directors had prepared for submission to the meeting : — " Your directors have pleasure in presenting their fifth annual report, and must congratulate the shareholders on the satisfactory state of their company. It will be Been by the balance-sheet that the sum of £126 Bs. has been received from rent of the ball. Out of this sum there was £34 15s. received from the Government for court-house purposes. Our receipts this year will therefore compare favorably with those of last year, which amounted only to some £112. In addition to the £126 Bs. before mentioned, there are outstanding assets to the amount of about £30, which, together with the outstanding account at last balance, will bring the receipts up to the amount of £156 for the year. " Your directors were unable to get an expression of opinion at the meeting called to go into matter of removing the hall as there was no quorum present, so they took upon themselves the responsibility of removing it at a cost of £66 18s., and as the section where the hall stood originally will let at probably £50 to £60 per annum, your directors feel satisfied you will approve of their action.

" Your directors would recommend that during the present year money be expended in obtaining better seat accommodation, and more lights will also be required. "Under clause 51 of the Articles of Association, two directors, Messrs. Davidson and White will retire according to rotation, but are eligible for reelection. Mr. J. H. Siggs having parted with his interest, you will therefore be asked to elect three directors."
