A general opinion was expressed that as the Board had already spent £70 on new works on this road, besides voting about £40 for culverts and repairs, in addition to the £200 voted at the previous meeting, the petitioners had very little cause to complain of the proportion of the Board's funds voted to the Normanby road. On the motion of Mr. Dingle, seconded by Mr. Inkster, accounts amounting to £15 16s. Bd. were passed for payment. The secretary was instructed to issue the usual notices to ratepayers, under the Rating Act, in respect to the amount due by each under the new valuation-list for the year 1882-83, and to notify that the valuation-list was open for inspection. A survey of the deviation to the Kaupokonui had been completed, and a map was handed in. The work on Scott's road was nearly completed, and would be passed in a few days. Io was resolved to pay to Mr. Gifford the amount due on the Kaupokonui footbridge, the amount with the exception of £15 being a charge against rates, an interim letter from the Commissioner approving the expenditure on the work having been read.
