POSTAL GRIEVANCE AT OPUNAKE.
TO THE BDITOBOF THE STAJB.
Sib, — We have a grievance here, in reference to the postal arrangements. The coaches from Hawera and New Plymouth generally arrive, here at about half-past seven o'clock in the evening. The New Plymouth coach takes its departure at six o'clock the following morning, and the Hawera coach at seven o'clock. As letteTS are not delivered till nine o'clock in the morning, we are precluded from pending an answer either North or South for 30 to 40 hours. I have no wish to add any more burthens to those already imposed >on our overworked postmaster and 1 telegraphist, Mr. Boyne ; but would suggest that letters might be delivered on the evening of arrival — say for a quarter of an Hour. Boxes have been already applied for, and as soon as they are put up, the necessity for opening the office in the evening would no longer exist. Some arrangements ought also to be made for receiving letters in the morning. — I am, &c, Sufferer by Present System. Opunake, Dec. 12.
