NORMANBY.
(from our own correspondent.)
I hear that the pieoe of work "required on the road to the Waingongoro, which I mentioned in a former letter, is to be done shortly. It is an important matter to people here to see tbat roads should be improved as much as possible this summer, for all through last winter a considerable amount of business was diverted from this place, owing entirely to this circumstance. We shall soon be entering on a new regime, and I hope that we shall not be continually laboring under " want offends."
A considerable amount of dissatisfaction is felt here with the action of the Bank of New Zealand in not having erected decent premises. I have referred to the matter several times, but the bank has always stated that as soon as the site of the railway station was fixed, they would erect a respectable building ; but, although that was settled several months ago, the bank have taken no action at all. Without doubt, if another bank were to start, the discontent would take palpable form, and the greater part of the customers would leave the old institution for the new one, for not only do they consider tbat they are not getting justice, but implied promises have not been kept, and the bank which treats its customers in so off-band a manner cannot be sur-' prised if it does not receive any great consideration from them.
