HORSE STEALING.
Thomas Campbell convicbect of stealing a horse, the property of — Wilson, was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment with hard labor.
STEALING MONEY.
William Eix Rose was charged with stealing eight one-pound notes from Jas. Clark, of Manaia. The jury, after an absence of more than an hour, returned into Court with a verdict of guilty. The foreman also read the following rider : — " The jury desires to add as a rider that the conduct of the committing magistrate in allowing the document complained of by the prisoner, and admitted by the sergeant of police to be taken away from the Court and not to be produced on the trial, should receive enquiry at the han4g
of the Government." The document referred to was a list of money prisoner had received. — His Honor sentenced the prisoner to two years' hard labor.
STEALING HONEY FROM A LODGER.
William Hopkinson was charged with stpaling r^oney from Eobevt Hood, a lorl&er living at Fergus' boarding-house, Hawera. — Mr. R. C. Hughes (tor Mr. Stanui&b) appeared .is Crown Prosecutor. — The prisoner, who was undefended, pleaded not guilty, and was acquitted.
