PATEA.
.'{FBOM OUB OWN COBBESPONDENT.) >A meeting is called for Saturday to start a Farmers' Club, which, I think, Will be a step in the right direction. Mr. Sherwood's address to the ratepayers appears in the Mail. Mr. Sherwood asks for the support of the ratepayers not only for the mayoralty, hub aa the municipal representative foe tho fiaxboT Board. Buould lie succeed in the 'first-named or nob, I cortainly think ho &GBBrveß support for the Harbor Board, as he has, I believe, been the principal zneans of bringing about the present satisfactory state of the entrance to the river, and would, no doubt, push on further wants to the best of bis power. Mr. Sherwood has large ideas as to the future highway which the river might be jnade to open up back country to a considerable extent, and afford unlooked for facilities to settlers near the banks.
Meetings are to be held in the district during the week to ascertain the views of the ratepayers with Vegard to making the Boads Boards into County Councils.
